Korea Stock Index Remains Volatile After 30% AI-Driven Selloff

The Korea stock index remains volatile after the KOSPI dropped about 30% from its June peak in less than a month. The decline reportedly triggered margin calls for around 1.2 million trading accounts, with about 360,000 fully liquidated. Concerns over slowing AI spending weighed heavily on Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, fueling forced selling across the market. The KOSPI is still swinging 5%–6% per session and remains about 25% below its June high.
